There are two techniques commonly used
to grow diamonds.
CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition)
HPHT (High Pressure High Temperature)
The first step in finding the perfect diamond is understanding the 4C’s (colour, clarity, cut and carat).
This scale created by the GIA is used to determine the visual traits, quality and value of a diamond.
The colour grade is the evaluation of the amount of colour in a diamond.
Colour in a diamond is due to the presence of clements such as nitrogen and boron during the growth process.
For white diamonds the less colour a diamond shows the higher the value.
During the diamond growth process, internal imperfections form inside the diamond. These are known as inclusions.
The clarity grading of a diamond indicates the amount of inclusions that are present. How visible they are and their location in the diamond.
Inclusions in a diamond are often discribed as “birthmarks”. They make your diamond unique and one-of-a-kind.
This is one of the most important C’s. It measures how well the stone is cut and how light interacts with the facets in the diamond.
This will determine the fire, brilliance and scintillation(sparkle) of a diamond.
The GIA bases a diamonds cut grade on seven components brightness, fire, scintillation, weight ratio, durability, polish and symmetry.
Carat is the weight of a diamond. It is a major influence in a diamonds value. The higher the carat weight the higher the value.
Two 2cl diamonds can have different measurements based the quality of their cuts.
AL CTJ we source stones that have a balance between having a large face up value but not cut too shallow where light leakage is present.
